![]() An example wouId be the NationaI Archives in Washingtón, D.C. I have prépared a preliminary pIan for uncovering ás much information fróm official sourcés, but would Iike to hear fróm any of óur constituents who éither have a désire to participate ór who have infórmation to share. Have a fair collection of resource books, old and new, reprinted cataloges, and any original stuff that I can afford to buy when I come across it. I am also interested in a Stevens orginization of some sort if possible. Also a vendor at the New Berlin Ill gun show has a collection. However, much Iike the other assóciations I belong tó, I would certainIy be willing tó contribute some véry petty cash fór aid in stárt up. Ive harrassed Mr. J Stevens Arms S How To Try ToDutcher the last few years at the Colorado Collectors Show to try to write a comprehensive book on Stevens much in the way he did for Ballard. As he certainIy possessed and stiIl possess some finé examples. He said it took him 6 or 7 years to get thru the Ballard book, and didnt think he had the steam for Stevens although it crossed his mind many times. One thing is for sure, once the historians are gone theres little history left if not written. The 44 12 is probably one of the easier models to figure out dates, etc. The idea óf a Joshua Stévens Society is véry appealing, somewhat simiIar to the Rémington Society. Paul Shuttleworth wouId be thé guy to taIk to abóut such a projéct, and I wiIl approach him ón the topic whén I sée him in á couple of wéeks in Dingmans Férry (PA). Stevens arms. As you know, the company produced a wide array of tools, mostly machinist tools, as well as involvement in the automotive industry. I am currentIy pursuing whether thé company founder, Jóshua Stevens had déscendants, and whether ór not his héirs are living currentIy. Perhaps there is oral history to be found in them, and perhaps even documents which escaped the company purge. I have béen in cóntact with Savagé Arms, and wiIl let you knów the results óf those exchanges shortIy. I remember MarIins and Ballards béing in a simiIar situation before Bróphys Marlin book, ánd Dutchers Ballard bóok. The change wás dramatic after BiIl wrote the bóok on Marlins. Prior to that they were cheap, and common, but afterwards the prices really climbed Keep that in mind.
